At Bone Appetito, sustainability is about making thoughtful choices every day. As a small Australian business, we understand that even small actions can make a meaningful difference.

Giving Materials a Second Life

One of our favourite projects is transforming retired wine and whisky barrels into unique pet beds. Rather than allowing these barrels to be discarded, we carefully restore and repurpose them into functional pieces that can be enjoyed for years to come.

Each barrel bed represents a small step towards reducing waste while celebrating the character and craftsmanship of Australia's wine and whisky industries.

Reducing Food Waste

Many of our products are created using premium Australian ingredients that may otherwise have gone to waste.

Our crocodile treats, for example, are produced using off-cuts from crocodile processed for human consumption. By utilising these nutritious cuts, we help reduce unnecessary food waste while creating unique, high-quality treats for pets.

We are passionate about finding ways to make better use of available resources and supporting a more sustainable food system wherever possible.

Sustainable Packaging Practices

When packing your orders, we make every effort to reduce waste and reuse materials responsibly.

Where suitable, we use recyclable corrugated kraft paper to fill empty space and protect products during transit. We also reuse clean cartons and shipping boxes received from our suppliers when packing larger orders, helping to extend the life of packaging materials before they enter the recycling stream.

While not every order can be packed entirely with reused materials, we actively look for opportunities to minimise unnecessary waste.

Supporting Local

We proudly source the majority of our ingredients and products from Australian suppliers. Supporting local businesses helps reduce transport distances, strengthens local communities, and allows us to maintain close relationships with the people who help bring our products to life.

A Continuous Journey

We know sustainability is not something that is ever truly finished. There is always more to learn and improvements to make.

As Bone Appetito grows, we remain committed to exploring new ways to reduce waste, reuse materials, improve our packaging, and make responsible choices for our business, our pets, and our environment.
